Removing an Owner or Partner
The form used to remove an owner or partner from a previously registered business is known as a "Dissolution." It can be obtained from the County Clerk’s office or by clicking on the link above. You may file a Dissolution by mail or in person at the County Clerk’s office. You will file four (4) copies of the Dissolution. They must be notarized and bear the original signatures and addresses of the original owners/partners and indicate, by name, the owner(s) or partner(s) that will remain with the business. The Dissolution will bear the same Bergen County file number as the original Trade Name.
Whether filing by mail or in person, you will receive two (2) copies back, one stamped "filed" for your records and the other stamped "certified copy" which your bank will require in order to remove the owner/partner from your business account.
