Gold Star Parent Identification Card
The Bergen County Clerk’s Office offers a free identification card for Gold Star Parents. A Gold Star Parent Identification Card is available to a parent, legal guardian or legal custodian that has lost a child while on active duty for the United States Armed Forces. All those applying through the Bergen County Clerk’s Office must be a Bergen County resident. If you are from a different county and would like to obtain identification as a Gold Star Parent, please contact your County Clerk’s Office. This card is official government identification that the bearer is a Gold Star Parent. In addition, the card provides certain benefits such as free and or discounted admission to New Jersey State Parks, beaches, and museums. Eligibility:
To be eligible for the Bergen County Clerk Gold Star Parent ID Card the applicant must apply in person at the County Clerk's Office and:
Be the parent, legal guardian or legal custodian of a member of the armed services who lost his or her life on active duty in service to the United States.
Be a resident of Bergen County.
And present:
- Service member’s Federal DD Form 1300
- and/or Report of Casualty, which identifies the member of the armed forces who died while on active duty for the United States
- and/or a certification from an organization formed for the support of parents of members of the armed forces who lost their lives while on active duty for the United States
